JAMMU, Dec 8: Narwal police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a trucker and recovered 5 kilograms of poppy straw from his possession.
As per police spokesman, on reliable information, a team from Narwal police post laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AF-6695.
During checking, police recovered 5 kilograms of poppy straw from the truck and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Ram Saroop, son of Mohinder Lal, a resident of Kalsian, District Rajouri.
A case under FIR Number 254/16 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Bahu Fort police station and investigation started to ascertain the source and destination of the consignment.
Police team led by Incharge Narwal police post SI Wasim Mehraj made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Bharat Sharma, SDPO City East Chandan Kohli and SP City South Shaazad Salaria.
