NEW DELHI, Sep 22: “True religion always unites and never divides humankind,” New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah today said at a function organised by the Brahma Kumaris institution here.
Abdullah said that unfortunately religions are being used today to divide people and to create conflicts in the society especially to garner more and more votes.
“We should rise above vote-bank politics and work tirelessly for promoting peace, harmony, love and cooperation in society,” he said.
Abdullah also launched “Ahimsa Paramo Dharma Awareness” campaign on the occasion and lauded Brahma Kumaris and other inter-faith leaders’ initiatives of awareness campaign as an apt move for uniting and uplifting people.
“Since nobody can live in isolation, we have to come together, join hands to live and let live with mutual understanding, trust, tolerance and cooperation to confront and contain common problems like poverty, pollution and energy depletion in a successful way,” he added. (PTI)
