TIRUMALA, Jan 25 : Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Board members on Saturday handed over Rs 27 lakh compensation to the family of V. Nirmala from Palakkad, Kerala who died in the stampede on January 8 during the issue of Sarvadarshanam tokens in Tirupati on the occasion of Vaikuntha Ekadashi.
The compensation amount includes Rs.25 lakhs, while board member Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy gave her funds of Rs.2 lakhs and paid a total of Rs.27 lakhs.
TTD Board members Naresh Kumar, Ramamurthy, and Santaram personally visited the victim’s house and handed over the compensation.
As per the decision of TTD Board to give one contract job to one person of the family, the Board members collected the details of one Kaushiga for the job.
On Friday, the Board members also handed over Rs 25 lakh compensation to the family of Mallika, a resident of Mettu Salem in Tamil Nadu, who tragically died in the Tirupati tragic incident.
The compensation cheque was handed over to Mallika’s only son Ramesh, by TTD Board members Naresh Kumar, Ramamurthi, Shantaram, and Krishnamurthy.
The Board members took the details of the family to offer a contractual job within TTD to one of the family members.
To ensure the timely distribution of compensation to the affected families, the TTD Board formed three teams earlier.
