JAMMU, Mar 12: All Jammu and Kashmir Tourist Taxi, Maxi, Cab Transporters Federation (TTMCTF) and Kashmir Auto Rickshaw Drivers Association (KARDA) demanded waiver of token and passenger taxes.
Addressing a joint press conference, Anchal Singh Manhas Chairman, Tourists Taxi Operators Jammu Province and Sheikh Javed Ahmed President All Jammu and Kashmir Tourist Taxi, Maxi, Cab Transporters Federation demanded waiver of token tax, passenger tax, rental of stands leased out by the UT and Central Government and Semi Government Departments like Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Srinagar Development Authority, Custodian and District and Town Development Committees besides Railways and Airport Authorities of India for the financial years 2019-20 and 2020-21.

They also demanded one time amnesty on penalties for late fee on account of renewal of fitness, permit and licence, consideration of taxi, maxi, cabs and auto rickshaws for financial support for upgradation of their vehicles as applicable to commercial transporters, extension of life of vehicles plying in UT of Jammu and Kashmir from 15 to 25 years, creation of uninterrupted travel corridors for popular tourist destinations like Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg in Kashmir Division and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Patnitop and Bhaderwah in Jammu Division and action on unethical practices prevalent in the departments for hiring of vehicles.
They also demanded creation and notification of stands in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir, implementation of pilot project order of High Court, inclusion of stake holders as Co-opted Members in Regional Transport Authority, abolition of more than one toll tax, entry fee and parking fee for all major tourist corridors, exemption of paper formalities for vehicles which have been off the road for the last 2 to 3 years and now want to replace voluntarily their vehicles with new one after due scrapping of the old vehicle, discouragement of operational encouragements done by State Carriage Transport Operators, declaration of transport as an industry in the upcoming Transport Policy of Jammu and Kashmir and financial grant-in-aid to taxi, maxi, cab and auto rickshaw transporters for COVID-19 pandemic period.
