Tunnel from Pakistan to Indian side serious matter: Gupta

JAMMU, July 30: Describing the discovery of a long tunnel from Pakistan to Indian side in Rajpura border area of Jammu as a very serious matter, former Union Minister and MLA Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has stressed the need for a deep look into the whole security scenario viz-a-viz Pakistan.
He expressed surprise over the certain recent statements of Government leaders claiming improvement in the situation of the State, and thus pleading for lowering of the guards including reducing the appearance of the forces in the troubled Valley of Kashmir.
Commenting upon the reported statement of the Defence Minister AK Antony that the appearance of the troops in this State should be reduced, Prof Gupta observed that in the prevailing circumstances there is hardly any scope for laxity.
Defence Minister and some others in the Government seem to be acting under certain pressures in a bid to appease the secessionists and semi- secessionist, he added. He said the biggest yard stick to gauge the improvement in the situation of the Valley would be the return and rehabilitation of the migrants.
