NEW DELHI, Apr 29: Turmeric futures prices today shot up by 1.52 per cent to Rs 6,430 per quintal as speculators created fresh positions, driven by an improvement in demand in the spot market at previaling levels amid lower output expectations.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in May climbed Rs 96, or 1.52 per cent, to Rs 6,430 per quintal, with an open interest of 18,385 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in June traded higher by Rs 96, or 1.49 per cent, to Rs 6,552 per quintal, with an open interest of 15,885 lots.
Marketmen said fresh positions created by speculators driven by an improvement in demand in the spot market, supported by lower output estimates, mainly led to a rise in turmeric futures. (PTI)
