JAMMU, Sept 22: Teachers Welfare Association president, Jasmeet Singh Madaan has urged Director School Education and Commissioner/ Secretary, School Education to postpone the itinerary for change in School timings w.e.f. October 1, as is the precedent prevailing in the School Education Department since long.
Every year, school timings are changed twice a year i.e. in May and October. But as the weather has taken an unprecedented turn this year and still hotness and humid conditions are prevailing, it is imperative that schedule for change in timings should also undergo change, he said in a statement.
Many Teachers/Masters/ Lecturers posted in far flung areas expressed their willingness and urged to postpone change in school timings till the weather improves, Madaan said.
These schedule of change in timings were made way back when there were limited sources of transport, dilapidated roads etc. but now the scenario has changed a lot. Road connectivity and modes of transport are easily available now, so there is a dire need to even introspect whether these changes are required at all or not. If required, then for how many months because now a days winter is limited only for two and half months maximum, he said.
