TWA urges Govt to defer change in school timings

JAMMU, Sept 29: Teachers Welfare Association President, Jasmeet Singh Madaan has appealed to the LG, Chief Secretary and Commissioner/ Secretary, Education to defer school timings schedule going to be effective from October 1 as per standing order till weather conditions improve.
In a fervent appeal, Madaan urged that hot conditions are still persisting due to drastic climate change and there is no marked improvement in weather and it is imperative that in the interest of students as well as Teaching community, timings from 8 A.M to 2 P.M. shall continue till the weather improves.
Meanwhile, he also requested to the higher authorities to amend the rules for timings of rural schools also which will be 10.00 A.M to 4.00 P.M. to 9.00 to 3.00 P.M as there is now better connectivity of roads, thanks to LG Govt for huge infrastructure development of roads, link roads and highways.
He said it is generally seen that those Teachers/Masters/ Lecturers posted in far flung areas reach home when there is dark and goes in the morning also when there is dark.
