Two arrested in gang-rape case

JAMMU, Feb 22: Police arrested two accused, who were involved in the gang-rape case of a class 8th student in Nomain area of the holy town Katra.
As per police sources, a class 8th student was allegedly kidnapped and raped by four persons in the Nomian area of the holy town Katra.
The accused kidnapped the girl in an auto when she was returning home from school and raped her after taking her to a secluded spot.
They had fled the spot after committing the offence, leaving the victim in an unconscious state.
After regaining consciousness, the girl narrated the incident to her parents, who lodged a complaint against four persons, identified as Karan Chand of Udhampur, Ashwami Kumar of Saran, Varinder Singh of Nomian and Parkash Chand of Nelia at police station Katra.
A case under FIR number 45/14 under Section 376, 366 and 109 RPC was registered at Katra police station and manhunt was launched to arrest the accused.
On specific inputs, police team from Katra police station led by SHO Sanjeev Gupta under the supervision of SP Katra Kulbir Singh arrested two accused, who have been identified as Karan Chand of Udhampur and Parkash Chand of Nelia.
The vehicle used in the offence was also seized, while raids are being conducted to arrest the remaining two accused.
