BIJNORE : Uttar Pradesh police has arrested two people in connection with the gruesome murder of NIA DSP Tanzil Ahmed here, last night.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Subhash Singh Baghel said here today said that the two accused Reyan and Junail have been arrested from a posh locality in the city. Reyan is the nephew of the deceased police officer. However, the prime accused in the crime Munir was absconding and the state police had issued a lookout order along with Rs 50,000 reward against him .
Mr Baghel said Munir could be hiding in Goa or Mumbai and couple of teams have been despatched there. Ahmed was shot dead by criminals when he was returning from a wedding of his neice on April 2.
The police officer’s wife was also critically injured in the attack, but his two children escaped unhurt.
Earlier, the UP police had claimed that the attack was the fallout over a dispute between the relatives of the NIA DSP. However, the state police had also not ruled out the act of terrorists in the killing. (AGENCIES)
