Two books of Dogri poetry released

Jammu, June 27:  Two new books of Dogri namely; Sat Banna by Puran Chand Bargotra and Desai Di Rooh by Taramani were released in a function organized by Dogri Sanstha, Jammu.
Padam Shree Prof Nilamber Dev Sharma, the veteran Dogri writer presided over the function, whereas Dr Arvinder Aman, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, was the guest of honour.
Sat Banna by Bargotra is a collection of Kundaliyan, a rare form of Dogri poetry, and Desai Di Rooh by Taramani is collection of Dogri poems based on the autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi. Prof Veena Gupta and Shiv Nandan Sharma presented scholarly papers on the two books.
Both the poets, whose books were released also recited few couplets from the books.
Prof Nilamber Dev Sharma, in his presidential address said that both the books are valuable addition to Dogri Literature due to their unique form and content. He said this will bring diversity in Dogri literature which is a healthy sign for the growth of literature.
Dr. Arvinder Aman while speaking on the occasion said that increasing number of Dogri publications by writers augers well for the language. He said the Jammu office of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages is poised to initiate many projects and schemes for the promotion of languages of this region. He sought help and co-operation of all writers in these endeavours of the Academy.
Prof. Lalit Magotra, President of Dogri Sanstha, while welcoming the audience congratulated the authors whose books were released. He said that the enthusiasm of the writers, who are publishing Dogri books in large numbers, has to be matched by the Dogri speaking public by giving place to these books in their homes and also by speaking Dogri to their children and younger generation.
In the end Prof. Veena Gupta thanked the audience of the media.
