Two bootleggers held, liquor recovered

Srinagar, July 11: Police in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district today arrested two “notorious” bootleggers and recovered liquor from their possession.
A police said a naka was laid at Vilgam market by a police party. “During checking, a Sumo bearing registration number JK01J-1394 was stopped and on checking, 10 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from the possession of Abdul Hamid Rather and Mushtaq Ahmad Rather,” the spokesman said.
As per the reports, the spokesman said, both the persons remain busy in their “malpractice of distributing illicit liquor among youth of the area, thereby posing a greater risk of alcoholic addiction and spoiling their future”.
Police have registered a case under FIR number 35/2015 under Section 48 Excise Act was registered against them and investigation is on, the spokesman said.
