Two bovine smuggling bids foiled, 18 animals rescued

JAMMU, May 27: Police foiled two smuggling bids in city outskirts and rescued 18 bovines.
According to a police spokesman, during the intervening night of May 26 and 27, police foiled two smuggling bids, one at Bantalab Toll plaza in Nagrota area and another at Bagh-e-Bahu area.
He said that Nagrota police laid a naka at Bantalab Toll Plaza and intercepted a Mahindra vehicle which was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar. He said that on search of the vehicle, 6 bovines were found loaded in the vehicle. The bovines were rescued by the naka team while the driver managed to flee from the spot.
Similarly, Bagh-e-Bahu police intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AK-6741 and on search found 12 bovines loaded in the truck. All the bovines were rescued but the driver of the truck fled from the spot.
In both cases, the concerned police had registered cases and started investigations.
