JAMMU, Apr 27: Two persons including a 24-year-old youth committed suicide while an 18-year-old girl made an abortive attempt on her life by consuming some poisonous substances at their respective residences in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a man identified as Vijay Kumar (55) son of Rattan Chand, a resident of Preet Nagar (Digiana), tonight consumed some poisonous substance at his residence following which his family members rushed him to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem, he added.
“Similarly, in Badgal area of Akhnoor, one Munish Kumar (24) son of Kali Dass, also consumed some poisonous substance this morning. Founding him unconscious, the family members shifted him to Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor, from where he was referred to GMCH Jammu, where he passed away during treatment”, the spokesman said, adding after conducting post mortem the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
He further said that an 18-year-old girl identified as Sushma Banerjee daughter of IK Banerjee, a resident of Belicharana, also made an abortive attempt on her life by consuming some poisonous substance at her residence, this evening.
“She was also shifted to GMCH for treatment”, the spokesman said and added that in all three cases, the concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
