Two-commit suicide, woman jumps into Chenab

JAMMU, Sept 4: Two persons allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at their respective residences, while, a woman tried to end her life by jumping into Chenab, in tehsil Akhnoor.
As per reports, a girl namely Anita, daughter of Aratu of Uttrakhand, at present Channi Himmat allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at her residence yesterday.
Noticing her unconscious, family members shifted her to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where she failed to respond to the treatment and died.
The body was handed over to legal heirs after autopsy, while, a case has been registered to ascertain the reason behind such extreme step.
In another incident, Baldev Singh, son of Madan Singh of Chann Rodian, Kathua, allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at his residence.
He was shifted to Kathua hospital, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The reason behind such extreme step could not be ascertained yet, while, a case has been registered and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a woman allegedly tried to end her life by jumping into Chenab, but was rescued by the people.
Police spokesman said that, Shabnam Sharma wife of Rampal resident Dok Khalsa, made an abortive attempt on her life by jumping into the Chenab in Akhnoor tehsil.
He said that, the woman was rescued by the locals and shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH), Akhnoor, where her condition was stated to be stable, when last reports poured in.
Police has registered a case and started investigation to ascertain the reasons behind such extreme step.
