JAMMU, Oct 28: Fifth annual conference of Jammu and Kashmir Orthopaedics Association (5th JKOACON) commenced today in Jammu.
The 2-day conference being organized by the Department of Orthopaedics, ASCOMS and Hospital, Sidhra, was formally inaugurated by Prof Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal ASCOMS Hospital, Sidhra.
In his address, Prof Pavan Malhotra stated that ASCOMS Hospital is at forefront of spreading knowledge. During the event, lifetime achievement award was given to Prof Deedar Singh, Ex-HoD Orthopaedics, GMC Jammu and ASCOMS Hospital, Sidhra for his contributions in the field of Orthopaedics in Jammu and Kashmir.
Prof Rajesh Gupta (president JKOA and organizing secretary of 5th JKOACON) said that guest faculty from all over India is participating in the 2-day event and they will share their work about different aspects in Orthopaedics. He further stated that more than 200 delegates have registered for the conference.
The president of Indian Orthopaedic Association (IOA) Prof Ramesh Sen said that academic events have given opportunities to the Orthopaedicians in J&K to further honed their skills and learn from the masters of Orthopaedics. This year the IOA president theme is “Success with Soft Surgical Skills”.
There were two orations, Prof VK Pachnanda oration delivered by Dr Ram Chadha (vice president IOA) on “Nothing lasts forever” and Prof Farooq A Ashai oration delivered by Dr Navin Thakkar (general secretary IOA) on “My journey of innovation and patenting – May help my colleague friends”.
