JAMMU, Mar 27: Second two day “National Conference in Mathematics” organized by the Department of Mathematics, Government Gandhi Memorial Science College Jammu, in collaboration with Directorate College Development Council, University of Jammu culminated.
On the valedictory function, Nodal Principal Dr Satinder Singh was the chief guest presented certificates among the scholars in presence of organising secretary Prof Dr Sunil Gupta, HoD Prof Dileep Raina, Prof Dr Chanchal Kumar from IISER Mohali and Prof Dr Bopender Singh.
Prof Dr KS Charak urged upon the Principal of the college and the organising secretary of the conference to arrange such interactive sessions in future too.
Earlier, during the day mathematician of International repute Dr S Ponnusamy from IIT, Chennai interacted with large gathering of participating students.
Mathematicians of repute Prof Dr SD Sharma from Central University Jammu, Prof Dr BA Zargar from University of Kashmir, Prof Dr Wali Mohammad Shah from Amar Singh College Srinagar, Prof Dr Dinesh Khurana from PU Chandigarh, Prof Dr JK Prajapat from Central University Rajasthan; Prof Dr BS Komal from MIET Jammu, Prof Dr Parvinder Singh from Central University Jammu, Prof Dr PK Sharma from DAV College Jalandhar, Prof Dr KS Charak from University of Jammu, Prof Dr Chanchal Kumar from IISER Mohali, Chandigarh and other eminent mathematicians and scholars, faculty members and the students from SMVDU, BGSBU and Jammu University, attended the conference.
A comprehensive report on the conference was read by faculty member Prof NK Dhar, which highlighted about the benefit of holding this annual program in the college for the students and the teaching fraternity.
In the poster paper presentation, first, second and third best poster papers chosen where those of the students of Government Degree College RS Pura, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, and Government College for Women Parade respectively.
The wining students were encouraged by giving them medals by the Principal.
Prof Rajesh Gupta from GDC RS Pura received the honour on behalf of his college students.
The valedictory function was anchored by faculty member Dr Shally Gupta and vote of thanks was presented by faculty member Dr Narinder Sharma.
