Two-day training prog by CGWB commences

JAMMU, Mar 10: Central Ground Water Board, (CGWB) Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India, North Western Himalayan region, Jammu is organizing  two-day training programme  in block Satwari of village Phallian which commenced  today.
During the inaugural function in the morning J N Bhagat, senior scientist and programme coordinator graced the occasion. In his welcome address he appraised that about 100 numbers of Sarpanchs and Naib Sarpanchs and Village Level Workers at block level attended the training programme.
The main objective of the training programme was to create awareness about ground water scenario of the block, problems faced by the villagers and participated monitoring of ground water levels by the Panchayats. The Panchayats of the blocks would monitor the water level of the wells monthly at least 10 numbers of wells.
For monitor purposes the Central Ground Water Board is providing measuring tapes to the Sarpanchs. Water level data collected by the Panchayats would be submitted to respective blocks where the department has proposal to set up water information centres.
