JAMMU, Apr 24: Two-day workshop on Robotics was inaugurated today at Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk Jammu.
The workshop is being organised by the college in collaboration with Times Institute of Management and Technical Studies (TIMTS) to provide a platform to budding engineers by offering them exposure to Recent Technologies, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Soft Skills.
The chief guest on the occasion was Dr Ravi Shankar Sharma, Director Technical Education. While speaking on the occasion, he said such workshops will focus on promoting innovation among students and by witnessing these technologies hands on and by absorbing the cognition of these trends, students would immensely benefit in getting employment.
In his welcome address, Er Arun Bangotra, Principal of this institute, emphasized that both robotics and Artificial Intelligence form a major part of the focus of the job universe of technological world. These terms are briskly becoming the synonyms of future technology and emphasized that students need to acquire skills, both soft and technical to ensure success in life.
Resource person from TIMTS were Vishal Sharma and Dinesh Gupta. They addressed the gathering of all students from various branches on the need of soft skill and recent trends in technology. Students also witnessed live practical session on Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Drones. The two- day workshop will provide the students an introductory-level training on Robotics and Automation, assembling and manufacturing of pre-decided robot modules, Arduino, programming, Artificial Intelligences and Drones.
On the last day, competitions will be held on Robot war, Robot Car racing, flying drones etc made by the students.
The arrangements for workshop have been made by K S Bhatia, HoD Mechanical Engineering, Er Sanam Gupta, Er Jasdeep Kaur and Er Aijez Farooq. Other present in the workshop were Er Mohd Shafi Bhat, Joint Director Technical Education, J&K; Rajesh Khajuria T P O, Er Inderjeet Singh, Er Sanjay Gupta, Er Rajesh Gupta, Er Zia-ul Haq, Ar Ritika Wadera, all HoDs, staff and students.
