Two days ‘Baisakhi’ event concludes at NIFD

JAMMU, Apr 12: In order to give platform to explore the hidden talent of students drawn from various schools and colleges across Jammu, National Institute of Fashion Design (NIFD) Karan Market organized two days ‘Baisakhi’ event, which concluded today.
During the event, the students participated in different activities like face painting, jewellery making, fabric painting, best out of waste, junk illustration and power point presentation. The entire event was bifurcated into two days.
As many as 100 students participated and exhibited their creative talent during the event.
The judges for the event were Minnie Sharma, Associate Prof Clothing and Textile, Home Science, Government PG College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar and Nalini Pathania, Prof English, Government MAM College, who advised the NIFD management to conduct more such programmes to give much needed exposure to students of Jammu regarding fashion designing.
Speaking on the occasion, NIFD Chairperson Vanita Thakur said that NIFD is always taking such type of initiated not only to provide exposure to the students but to students of other educational institutions as well by organizing such kind of competitions.
In jewellery making, Shivani and Shavi bagged first and second positions respectively, while in fabric making, Balkis Anjum, Shavi and Rishab Bargotra secured top three ranks respectively and in best out of waste, Shivani, Atharva Gupta and Shavi bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
In face painting, Divyanshi Jamwal, Ruhi Sharma and Ashwani Manhas secured first, second and third positions respectively, while in junk illustration, Gurpreet Kaurm Tanvi and Mamta Khajuria claimed first, second and third positions respectively.
In power point presentation, Gurpreet Kaur, Shavi and Mamta Khajuria secured first, second and third positions respectively, while in art and craft, Ranu Sharma and Nahida Akhter emerged winners.
