JAMMU, Sept 12: Jammu Sub Centre of Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) organized two days Zonal Seminar-2020 in online mode on the theme “Recent Trends in Science and Technology”.
Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu was the chief guest of the inaugural function.
Prof Dhar in his inaugural address emphasized the need of technical collaborations for reducing the gap between basic sciences and engineering applications.
Prof JW Bakal, President, IETE in his presidential remarks emphasized the need of collaborative research and elaborated on the vision of IETE for the benefit of the society especially for students of engineering and technology.
Earlier, while welcoming the august gathering, Prof Pawanesh Abrol, Chairman IETE Jammu Sub Centre informed the participants about the activities carried out by the centre in the recent years.
The inauguration was addressed by Prof P Prabhakar, Vice President, IETE, Prof AP Thakare, Amravati, Prof SL Kapoor, Zonal Mentor, North Zone, Prof Parveen K Lehana Convener and Head, Department of Electronics, University of Jammu, Prof. Lalit Sen Sharma Convener, Zonal Seminar and Head, Department of Computer Science and IT, University of Jammu, Subhash Chander Jain, Chairman, IETE, Chandigarh Centre, Radha Suresh, Director Technical, NetLab Project consultants, Chennai, Maj Gen SK Sharma (Retd), Joy Ganjoo, Er Samir Sharma Vice Chairman and Er Vijay Sharma Secretary.
Sunil, ADG, Prasar Bharati, GOI also actively participated in the seminar.
The proceedings of the session were conducted by Dr Romilla Malla Bhat, Principal, GDC, Marheen and Treasurer, Jammu Centre.
The inauguration was followed by a technical lecture by Dr Ram Gandhiraman, CEO and Founder, Space Foundry Inc, USA on Plasma Jet Technology for Printed Electronics Manufacturing.
A special session on Project Idea Contest was also conducted in the morning session in which the participants presented their innovative ideas.
More than 150 participants attended the Seminar. The prizes for the winners of were sponsored by Vigyan Parishad, J&K (a chapter of Vijnan Bharti) and their representative Samir Vohra Organizing Secretary conducted the proceeding of the event.
The Seminar is being organized in technical collaboration with Department of Electronics, Department of Computer Science & IT, University of Jammu, Sedulity Solutions and Technologies, New Delhi, NetLabs Project Consultants Private Limited Chennai, and Vigyan Parishad, J&K.
An IETE North Zone Chairmen Conclave is also being organized as a part of this Seminar, where all the Chairmen of IETE Centres in North Zone will come on a single platform for discussing developmental activities of IETE.
Prof Rakesh Vaid, Prof Susheel Sharma, Prof Vinod Sharma, Dr Shubhnandan Singh, Dr Rockey, Dr Ajay Aggrawal, Jasbir Singh, Dr Rakesh Gupta, Dr Suresh Rao, Namrata Karlupia, Er Palak Mahajan, Richha Sharma, Vijay, Preeti Rajput, Akshita Abrol, Verasis Kour, Jyoti Sharma and Dr Anjana Sharma, actively assisted the conduct of the seminar.
The Zonal seminar was attended by the IETE fraternity from all over India besides faculty members from various Colleges and Universities, students and the scholars.
