Two die in house collapse

POONCH, July 4: Two persons including a minor girl were killed and another was injured in a house collapse at village Upper Sanai in Surankote tehsil of district Poonch today.
Official sources said that it was heavy rain in the area during last night and early hours today. Suddenly, with the impact of rain, the ‘Kucha’ house of a poor family at village Upper Sanai collapsed this afternoon. Three persons, including two minor girls were buried alive under the debris of the house. The male members had gone outside in the fields and two more women were working in the compound.
Immediately, after the tragedy, the people of the area and other family members started rescue operation and managed to save the life of one girl, Sadia Akhtar, daughter of Zulfkar Ahmed while dead bodies of the elderly woman and 5-year old girl could be retrieved after long efforts.
The deceased were identified as 60-year-old Gulzar Bi, wife of Mohd Bashir and Sabia Akhtar (5), daughter of Zulfkar, residents of Upper Sanai.
BMO, Surankote Dr Parvez Ahmed Khan rushed an ambulance and Medical team led by a doctor to the village and they shifted the injured to Govt Hospital Surankote. Dr Khan when contacted said that condition of 3-year-old Sadia Akhtar was serious as she had received head injuries and multiple fractures. She was being referred to GMC Hospital, Jammu, he added.
The dead bodies were also removed to Surankote hospital and after performing legal formalities by police were sent back to the village for last rites.
