Two drug peddlers arrested with heroin, poppy straw

JAMMU, June 2: Bishnah and Chanderkote Police arrested two drug peddlers along with heroin and poppy straw.
As per police sources, a team from Police Station Bishnah led by SHO Inspector Joginder Chib under the supervision of SP Headquarters Ramnish Gupta arrested a notorious criminal along with 60 grams of heroin.
The accused was identified as Gurmeet Lal, son of Basant Ram, a resident of village Saidgarh Tehsil Bishnah District Jammu. He was a notorious criminal and was already sentenced for 10 years in Tihar Jail at New Delhi.
A case under FIR Number 94/2021 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police station Bishnah and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Bahu Fort led by SHO Inspector Deepak Pathania and assisted by Incharge Police Post Narwal SI Achal Rana apprehended a man along with 216 intoxicant capsules near Railway overhead bridge.
The arrested person was identified as Nihant, son of Ramjeet, a resident of Vinod Nagar, New Delhi.
A case under FIR Number 207/2021 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started.
In another similar case, a team from Police Station Chanderkote led by SHO Inspector Vijay Choudhary laid a naka and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number DL01M-7701 which was on its way to Jammu from Kashmir.
During search, police team recovered 29 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was identified as Vishal Kumar, son of Balbir Singh, a resident of Village Karari, Tehsil Mukerian, District Hoisharpur, Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 65/2021 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chanderkote and hunt has been launched to arrest the associate of the arrested driver identified as Aman Kumar, son of Dalbir Singh, a resident of village Rakdi Tehsil-Mukerian, District-Hoshiarpur Punjab, who managed to escape from the spot by taking advantage of the darkness.
