Two drug peddlers arrested with heroin, poppy straw

JAMMU, June 26: Bus Stand and Batote Police arrested two drug peddlers along with heroin and poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Station Bus Stand led by PSI Bhawani Singh laid a naka on BC Road and intercepted auto bearing registration number JK02CL-1496.
During checking, police team recovered 5.50 grams heroin and apprehended one person, who was identified as Manglu Ram, son of Kala Ram of Rajiv Nagar, Tehsil Rakh Bahu District Jammu.
The accused persons was a hardcore drug peddler in the area who always tried to get the local youth involved in drugs and was also supplying drugs among the youth.
A case under FIR Number 43/2021 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS has been registered at Police Station Bus Stand and investigation started.
The arrest was made under the supervision of SHO Bus Stand Inspector Deepankar Singh, SDPO City Sharad Kalu, SP City Mohita Sharma and SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Batote led by Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao laid a naka and intercepted a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK14H-2274.
During checking, police team recovered 3/5 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested one person, who was identified as Javed Ahmed, son of Fareed Ahmed of Darsoo Dhar Road District Udhampur.
During preliminary questioning, the accused confessed that he was illegally transporting the contraband substance towards Udhampur.
A case under FIR Number 69/2021 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Batote and investigation set into motion.
