Two drug peddlers arrested with heroin worth several lakhs

JAMMU, Nov 24: Janipur and Bahu Fort Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 220 grams heroin worth several lakhs from their possession.
As per police sources, on reliable information a team from Police Station Janipur led by SHO Inspector Nayat Ali under the supervision of SDPO West Rahul Nagar and SP City Mohita Sharma laid a naka and asked a pedestrian to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the pedestrian tried to escape, but was nabbed after a brief chase.
During checking, police team recovered 200 grams heroin worth several lakhs from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Arjun Singh, son of Shamsher Singh of village Lahri Bawian, Tehsil Pathankot Punjab, at present Jariai Morh District Kathua.
A case under FIR Number 121/2021 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Janipur and investigation started.
Meanwhile, on specific information a team from Police Station Bahu Fort led by PSI Balbir Singh under the supervision of SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Deepak Pathania, SDPO East Sajjad Sarwar and SP South Deepak Digra laid a naka and intercepted a person, who was moving towards Panama Chowk from Narwal.
During checking, police team recovered 20.86 grams heroin from the possession of the person and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Gursant Singh, son of late Manjeet Singh of Ward Number 1 Simbal Camp Tehsil RS Pura, District Jammu.
During preliminary questioning, the accused disclosed that the consignment of heroin was supposed to be delivered among youths in the adjoining areas of his residence.
A case under FIR Number 378/21 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in this illegal trade.
