Two drug peddlers held with 75 gm heroin-like-substance

JAMMU, Mar 4: Two drug peddlers were arrested by police in Sarwal area here today with 75 grams of heroin-like-substance.
A police spokesperson said that a team of Police Post Sarwal established a special naka at Toph Morh near Petrol Pump for checking of vehicles.
At the naka, he said, a scooty (JK02BM-3367) was signalled to stop but its driver tried to take a U-turn to avoid police. He was, however, stopped and during search of his belongings, 47 grams of heroin-like-substance was recovered from his possession.
The accused, later identified as Vinod Kumar (48) alias Kuda of House number 55, Dogra Hall, Jammu, was accordingly arrested and booked under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar.
During the course of further investigation, the police spokesperson said, the accused disclosed that he purchased the consignment of drugs from one Raja Singh of Majitha Road Pind, Ganda Singh Wala, Amritsar, Punjab.
He further disclosed that Raja Singh was also staying in Jammu. Accordingly, a team of Police Post Sarwal traced the second accused within one hour and arrested him with 28 grams of heroin-like-substance and Rs 2, 30,000 in cash.
Pertinently, the seizure in both the cases was made by Incharge Police Post Sarwal, Anil Sharma, in presence of SDPO West.
