Rs 1.07 lakh recovered by CCIU

SAMBA, Dec 31: In a crackdown on drug trafficking, Police in Samba district arrested two drug peddlers in Vijaypur area today.
A police official said that during a vehicle checking at Gurha Morh Vijaypur, a team of Vijaypur Police Station intercepted a Scorpio vehicle and recovered 3.92 grams of a heroin-like substance, Rs 13,000 cash and two mobile phones.
According to him, the arrested individuals were identified as Irfan Ahmed Dar and Muzamil Ahmed Dar, both residents of Asnoor, tehsil Damhal Hanjipora, district Kulgam.
He said both the accused have been booked in a case registered under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Vijaypur and further investigation taken up.
Meanwhile, the Cyber Crime Investigation Unit (CCIU) of Jammu and Kashmir Police in Samba district has successfully refunded Rs 1,07,500 to victims of online financial frauds.
As per police official, the complainants, Rommit Sharma from Vijaypur and Abhay Khajuria from Jakh, had reported being cheated of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 7500 respectively.
Using advanced technical skills, he said, the CCIU team led by Inspector ranked officer under the supervision of DySP Headquarters and SSP Samba recovered the full amount.
In a statement, SSP Samba Varinder Manhas has urged the public to stay vigilant against online scams and report suspicious activities to the National Cybercrime Helpline (1930) or at www.cybercrime.gov.in.
