KISHTWAR, Sept 15: Police here today arrested two notorious drug peddlers and recovered heroin-like substance along with cash from them.
SSP Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom informed that acting on intelligence regarding the smuggling and sale of narcotics among the youth in Kishtwar, a team led by SHO Police Station Kishtwar along with IC PP Shalimar, under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Kishtwar laid a Naka near Shalimar, Kishtwar.
During checking of vehicles and pedestrians, the Naka team observed suspicious behaviour of two individuals who attempted to evade the checking but cops held them and recovered heroin-like substance from their possession, weighing about 5gm along with some cash.
The arrested individuals were identified as Touheem Hussain, son of Shahnawaz Hussain, resident of Umar Masjid, Kishtwar and Suhail Ahmed, son of Shabir Ahmed, resident of Banderna, Kishtwar.
A case in FIR No. 225/2024 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar in this regard and investigation started.
