Two drug peddlers held with intoxicants

RAMBAN, Mar 22: Police here today foiled a narcotic smuggling bid and arrested one person with heroin like substance.
A Naka party of police apprehended one Javid Ahmed son of Nazir Ahmed resident of Mazmoh, Anantnag who on seeing the Police acted suspiciously and was on way from Seri to Ramban on foot.
During his checking, about 8.5 gram heroin like substance was recovered.
An FIR with number 102/2023 U/S 08/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Ramban in this regard and investigation started.
During a routine naka checking, a team from Police Post JT stopped a truck with number PB05T-2913 coming from Kashmir and moving towards Banihal. During checking of the vehicle, 7 kg poppy straw was recovered. The driver disclosed his identity as Nirmal Singh son of Deepa, resident of village Bhawanipur, Kapurthala, Punjab.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 63/2023 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
The recoveries and arrests have been made by police parties under the command of I/C PP JT PSI Amit Sharma, Inspector Mohd Afzal Wani, SHO Police Station Banihal and Inspector Anil Choudhary under the supervision of SDPO Banihal, Nisar Ahmed Khoja and Pardeep Singh Sen, DySP Hqrs Ramban with the overall supervision of SSP Ramban, Mohita Sharma.
