JAMMU, Dec 6: Channi Himmat Police busted two gangs of thieves and recovered stolen items worth several lakhs from their possession.
This was stated by Superintendent of Police (SP) South Jammu Vinay Sharma while interacting with reporters here today.
Divulging details, SP Vinay Sharma said that on October 9 this year, a person namely Naveen Gupta, son of Banarsi Lal Gupta of House Number 377, Sector-1, Channi Himmat lodged a report with Police Station Channi stating that some unknown persons has stolen gold ornaments and cash from his house on October 8, 2019.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 157/19 under section 454 and 380 IPC was registered at Police Station Channi Himmat and investigation initiated.
“During investigation, leads were collected and police zeroed in a person identified as Rahul Anuragi, son of Pappu Anuragi of Chattarpur, MP along with two minors one from Chattisgarh and another from MP”, SP South added.
“During questioning, they admitted there involvement in above said crime and on their discloser 2 Gold Kada, 2 Gold Rings, 1 Bracelet, 1 Gold Chain, 1 Mangal Sutar, 7 Ear Tops and 1 Ear Ring with two supports (Bagey) were recovered”, he informed.
SP further stated that in a case registered under FIR Number 131/19 under section 454 and 380 IPC with Channi Himmat Police Station, two thieves identified as Mohammad Nabi Ansari, son of Mukim-ud-Din Ansari of Jharkhand and Mohammad Shakeel, son of Hussain Jameel of Goddan Bala Akhnoor, at present Gujjar Colony Channi were identified.
On their disclosure, 2 Gold Chains, 6 Gold and Diamond Rings, 2 Kada, 2 Bangles, 10 Wrist Watches, 1 Tab of Apple Company, 1 Laptop and 1 Camera were recovered, SP Vinay Sharma said, adding that during further investigation they also admitted their involvement in two more cases registered under FIR Numbers 186/19 and 90/2019 under section 454 and 380 IPC in which 1 Laptop, 2 Silver Payal, 2 Silver Kada and 1 Diamond bracelet were recovered from their possession.
“Mohammad Nabi Ansari and Mohammad Shakeel admitted that they used to barter stolen property with narcotics from one person namely Rashid Ali, son of Hussain Mohammad of Peer Bagh Colony Bathindi Jammu who used to procure the drugs from Kashmir for which investigation is going on”, SP said, adding that 2 LCD/LED, 1 Laptop, 1 I-Phone, 1 Camera, 2 Gold Chain and 2 Gold Bangles were also recovered from them.
Further investigation of the arrested thieves is going on to ascertain their involvement in other burglary cases, SP South Vinay Sharma asserted.
Police teams led by SHO Channi Himmat Inspector Parvez Sajjad busted the gangs and made the arrest under the supervision of SP South Jammu Vinay Sharma and SSP Jammu Tejinder Singh.
