Srinagar, July 21: Police today said it have arrested two persons with over Rs.3 lakh demonetized currency notes in Maharaj Gunj area of downtown here today.
A police spokesman said that during naka checking, police apprehended two suspects identified as Javaid Ahmad Shah and Suhail Ahmad Bhat. “On their checking, police recovered three lakhs and three thousand demonetized currency notes,” he said.
The spokesman added that in this regard, police filed a complaint under section 5/7 of the Specified Bank Notes (cessation of Liabilities) Act 2017 and produced the accused in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Srinagar.
