KISHTWAR, Feb 27: Police here today solved the J&K Bank Dachhan theft case and arrested two persons allegedly involved in the crime and also recovered the stolen money.
SSP Kishtwar, Javaid Iqbal Mir stated that on February 3, 2025, a complaint was received from the Branch Manager, J&K Bank Suid, Dachhan regarding theft of Rs. 19,51,600 from the Bank.
“Acting swiftly, an FIR with number 01/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Dachhan in this regard and investigation started,” he said.
The SSP informed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted in this case under the supervision of ASP (OPS) Kishtwar, Nisar Khoja and it was led by Dy.SP PC Dachhan and included Sumit Bhagat, SHO Police Station Dachhan, Inspector Harjeet Singh and other cops.
During investigation the SIT rounded up some suspects for questioning and finally identified the main accused Mohd Yasin, son of Ghulam Nabi, resident of Krossa, Sounder and Bilal Ahmed, son of Mohd Ramzan, resident of Lidhri, Dachhan and both confessed their involvement in the theft.
Based on the disclosure of accused persons, the SIT accompanied by an Executive Magistrate (EMIC) recovered stolen money amounting more than Rs. 14 lakh. Further investigation was underway to recover the remaining amount.
Both the accused burnt their clothes, shoes and bag containing the cash to destroy the evidence but the SIT acted swiftly and recovered all the evidences.
SSP Kishtwar has said that further arrests and recoveries are expected as the investigation progresses.
