JAMMU, Apr 27: A man was arrested today with 20 gram of heroin from Gandhi Nagar area while another man was nabbed with 6 gram of heroin from Gujjar Nagar area.
According to a police official, while naka checking at Mini Market, Green Belt Park, Gandhi Nagar, a police team today intercepted a scooty bearing registration number JK02BS-2805. He said during checking of the scooty rider, 20 gram of heroin like substance was recovered from his one pocket and a weighing machine from other pocket.
“During further checking, a number of mobile phones and wrist watches were recovered from a bag hidden in the dicky of the scooty”, he said, adding the scooty rider namely Vikramjeet Singh alias Vicky son of Ujjagar Singh, resident of bhour Camp, Ward No 1, Jammu, was arrested on the spot and the recovered heroin seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No 96/2018 under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at police station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started. The arrest and recovery was made by Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia, SHO, police station Gandhi Nagar, under the supervision of SDPO City South Rafiq Manhas, SP City South, Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu, Vivek Gupta.
Meanwhile, a police party from police post Gujjar Nagar during routine naka checking at Gujjar Nagar signaled one pedestrian to stop for police check but on seeing the police, he tried to flee away from the spot.
“However, the alert cops apprehended him”, sources said, adding during search of his belongings, the police party recovered 6 gram of heroin like substance form his possession. In this regard, a case FIR No 27/2018 under relevant sections of law has been registered at police station Peer Mitha and further investigation of the case is going on.
The arrest and recovery was made by a police team headed by SHO, police station Peer Mitha, Sheema Nabi, assisted by Incharge, police post Gujjar Nagar, SI Tariq Ahmed.
