Two held with 18 liters of illicit liquor

JAMMU, Dec 7: Akhnoor Police today arrested two bootleggers with 18 liters of illicit liquor.
“Acting on information received through reliable sources that two persons are preparing and selling illicit liquor at Goshan in tehsil Maira Mandrian without any legal permission, a team of Police Station Akhnoor led by SHO Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Lal Sharma raided the spot,” a Police spokesman said.
He said during the raid, 18 liters of desi illicit liquor was recovered, which was made at a ‘Bhatti’ on the raided spot. “Utensils used in preparing the liquor were also recovered from the spot and approximately 600 liters of Lahan found on the spot was destroyed,” the spokesman said, adding, the accused namely Kamal Kishore son of Behari Lal and Showket Ali son of Mohd Iqbal, both residents of Goshan were arrested.
“In this regard a case FIR Number 329/2023 U/S 48-a, 48-e, 48-f Excise Act was registered at Akhnoor Police Station and further investigation started,” he added.
