UDHAMPUR, Dec 15: Police arrested two drug peddlers today with 12 grams of heroin.
“During naka checking on the highway near Birma Bridge, a police team stopped an SUV bearing registration number PB11CW-5400 which was going towards Udhampur from Jammu, and recovered 12 grams of heroin from the two persons on board in the vehicle,” a police spokesman said.
He said the accused identified as Gulcharan Singh Jasrotia son of Romal Singh of Shiv Nagar (Udhampur) and Ashwani Sharma, son of Kewal Sharma of Majalta (Udhampur), were arrested and the recovered heroin seized.
According the spokesman, Jasrotia is a habitual offender and has been named in several cases. He said a case in this connection was registered at Udhampur police station and further investigation started.
The overall recovery and arrest were made by Inspector Chaman Gorka SHO police station Udhampur under the supervision of Anwaar-ul-Haq (Additional SP Udhampur) and Sahil Mahajan (Deputy SP Headquarters Udhampur).
