RAMBAN, Apr 22: Police here today under the guidance of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar arrested two smugglers of intoxicant substances and recovered heroin like substance along with cash of Rs. 1.76 lakh from them.
The duo was arrested during routine vehicle and pedestrian checking at T-Chowk Naka in Banihal when they were coming from Banihal Railway Station and heading towards Banihal market and on noticing the cops they attempted to run but were apprehended by the Naka party.
They were identified as Yasir Ahmed Karoo, son of Nazar Ahmed, resident of Qazi Mohalla, Tehsil and District Anantnag and Abid Ahmed Bhat, son of Mohd Ashraf Bhat, resident of Lal Chowk, Tehsil and District Anantnag.
On their checking a substance resembling heroin and a cash of Rs. 1.76 lakh were recovered.
Police has registered a case in this regard in FIR number 57/2024, U/S 8/21/29 NDPS Act at Police Station Banihal and started investigation.
