Two held with illicit liquor pouches, poppy straw

RAMBAN, Jan 19: Police arrested two persons along with illicit liquor pouches and poppy straw, while two others managed to escape.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Ramban police station laid a naka on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and intercepted a Innova car bearing registration number PB09G-0947, which was on its way from Srinagar to Jammu.
During search, police recovered 52 pouches of illicit liquor and 31 kilograms poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who have been identified as Manjeet, son of Jila Ram and Amanjot, son of Thomas, both residents of Lisriwal, Jalandhar.
Their two associates have been identified as Manni, son of Jagdish, a resident of Lisriwal, Jalandhar and Sonu, a resident of Chabalwal, District Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 16/16 under Section 8/15/29 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Ramban against the accused and manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding persons.
Police team led by SHO Ramban police station Inspector Vinod Kundal made the arrest under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Headquarters MR Choudhary and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
