Two held with over 2 kg charas

RAMBAN, Dec 24: Batote police arrested two persons along with 2.400 kilograms of charas near Baggu Nallah on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Batote police station laid a naka near Baggu Nallah on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and asked two persons to stop for checking as they were wandering in the area under suspicious circumstances.
On seeing police cops, the persons tried to escape, but the cops chased and nabbed them near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 2.400 charas from a bag being carried by the persons and arrested them.
The accused have been identified as Kali Singh, son of Tez Ram and Prithvi Raj, son of Sher Singh, both residents of Kharkund Damote, district Ramban.
A case under FIR Number 127/15 under Section 8/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) has been registered against the drug peddlers at police station Batote and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Batote police station Inspector Arun Kotwal made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Rafiq Choudhary and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
