Two held with psychotropic substance, Poppy straw

JAMMU, May 14: Jhajjar Kotli police today nabbed two peddlers with 180 capsules of psychotropic substance and 2.4 kilogram of Poppy straw.
“A team of Police Station Jhajjar Kotli led by SDPO Nagrota Akash Kohli assisted by SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Azad Ahmed on naka duty at Suketar Chowk rounded up a suspected person who travelling in his vehicle bearing registration number PB06BA-9557,” a Police spokesman said.
He said during search, 2.4 kg of Poppy straw was recovered from the accused identified as Gurdayal Singh son of Chanan Singh, resident of Granthgarh 184, Batala, Gurdaspur (Punjab).
“Similarly, another naka was laid near Suketar where a police team rounded up a suspect travelling in a vehicle bearing registration number JK02CN-6690. During search, 18 strips (10 capsule in each strip) of Pregabalin capsule were recovered from the possession of the accused namely Manoj Sharma son of Kamal Kishor, resident of Nelay, tehsil Katra, district Reasi,” the spokesman added.
He said two different cases vide FIR Number 91/2023 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act and FIR Number 91/2023 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered in this connection at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and the accused were arrested.
Further investigation of the case is going on.
