Two held with stolen cable worth Rs 6 lakh

RAMBAN, Feb 8: Police here today solved a theft case within 24 hours and arrested two persons involved in the crime besides recovering the stolen item valuing about Rs. 6 lakh.
As per the case on February 6, 2024, a written complaint was received at Police Station Chanderkote from Executive Engineer of Generation Division Bhaglihar Hydro Electricity Project-1(BHEP) regarding theft of 400 KV Cross Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) cable of length 6 meters from the yard.
The tentative import cost of the cable is around Rs. 1 lakh per meter and the total cost of the stolen material was about Rs. 6 lakh.
Accordingly, a case in FIR number 27/2024 under relevant sections of the law was registered.
SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar constituted a special Police team under the supervision of Dy.SP Hqrs Ramban.
The team was led by SHO Chanderkote to solve the theft case.
Acting swiftly, the Police team with strenuous efforts apprehended two suspects-Salam Din, son of Mohd Ibrahim and Abdul Qadoos, son of Mohd Maroof, both residents of Chanderkote, Ramban.
During questioning both the suspects confessed their involvement in commission of the crime.
On their disclosure the stolen cable was recovered in burnt condition.
The arrest and recovery was made under overall supervision of SSP Ramban.
