LEH, Nov 16: Ladakh Police claimed today that they apprehended three persons, two of them from Himachal Pradesh, along with 986 grams of Charas-like-substance.
A police spokesperson said that on the evening of November 15, 2023, the patrolling party of Police Post Choglamsar found one Himachal number Breeza vehicle parked at an isolated place at Shey-Sindu Ghat area under suspicious conditions.
Accordingly, he said, the incharge of the patrolling party asked the driver to produce the relevant documents of the vehicle but the driver started making excuses, on which the vehicle was put to search.
During search of the vehicle, the police spokesperson said that 986 grams of Charas-like-substance was recovered from the possession of three persons. They were identified as Yograj of Dhamadi, Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, Tak Ram son of Sher Singh of Shikhari, Kullu, Himachal Pradesh (driver), and Tsering Tomchos of Skyanos, Leh.
Subsequently, the accused were arrested and booked in case FIR number 204/2023 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Leh besides setting into motion the further investigation in the case.
Meanwhile, the Ladakh Police have earnestly appealed the general public to join hands with the police in fight against the menace of drug abuse in the District by sharing the details about drug peddling incidents. Police have promised not to disclose the identity of the informants.
