Doc, 6 others test +ve in GMC’s Emergency
76 fresh cases in Ladakh

JAMMU, Dec 9: Seven persons including two hailing from Srinagar and Anantnag districts of Kashmir valley, who had come here for winter months which are very harsh in the Valley, died of COVID-19 while 190 tested positive and 156 others recovered from the virus in Jammu region.
A female doctor was among seven persons who tested positive during Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) in Emergency wing of the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu.
Of seven COVID casualties in the Jammu region today, four were reported in Jammu district and one each from Samba, Kathua and Reasi districts.
Two persons including a woman hailing from the Valley died in the GMC Jammu as they had come here to spend winters.
They include 67-year-old woman from Pathar Wali Gali in Safakadal area of Srinagar, who was co-morbid and suffering from COVID Pneumonia and 75-year-old man from Pethbugh in Anantnag district, who had multiple ailments and was positive for the virus.
GMC Jammu Medical Superintendent Dr Dara Singh told the Excelsior that bodies of both COVID victims from Kashmir have been sent to their native districts of Srinagar and Anantnag as per wishes of the family members under due COVID protocol.
An 82-year-old man from Jhullaka Mohalla of Jammu City died due to bilateral Community Acquired Pneumonia in the GMC Jammu this afternoon. An 81-year-old man from Chenani in Udhampur district also died of COVID Pneumonia in the same hospital this evening.
A 64-year-old woman from Billawar tehsil in Kathua district died of co-morbidities and COVID-19 in the GMC Jammu while 79-year-old from Nandpur village in Ramgarh tehsil of Samba district died of multiple ailments and Coronavirus in ASCOMS Sidhra.
An 80-year-old man from Mahore in Reasi district died of the virus and other medical problems in the GMC Jammu.
A woman and her two children reported positive in Rajpura in Jammu district. Two persons each tested positive for pathogen at Dansal, Kot Bhalwal and RS Pura and one each in Akhnoor and Bishnah.
Among 190 persons, who tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu region today, 89 were from Jammu district, 27 Udhampur, 24 Kathua, 12 each Rajouri and Doda, eight Samba, seven Ramban, five each Reasi and Kishtwar and one in Poonch district while 156 recovered from the virus, 100 alone in Jammu district, 18 Udhampur, 13 Doda, 11 Kathua, nine Rajouri and five in Poonch district. No recoveries were reported from Kishtwar, Samba, Ramban and Reasi districts today.
Jammu region now has 46670 Corona cases. Among them, 2493 are active positives while 43546 have recovered from the virus and there have been 631 casualties.
Highest casualties of 318 in the region have been reported from Jammu district followed by 58 Doda, 52 Udhampur, 50 Rajouri,44 Kathua, 34 Samba, 22 Poonch, 21 each Kishtwar and Ramban and 11 in Reasi district.
In the Union Territory of Ladakh, 76 new Corona cases were reported today including 74 in Leh district and two in Kargil.
This has taken Corona tally in Ladakh to 9046. Among them, 821 are active cases while 8102 have recovered from the virus.
There have been 122 Corona casualties in Ladakh including 79 in Leh and 43 in Kargil district as no fresh fatalities were reported in the Union Territory today.
