JAMMU, Feb 2: Two persons were killed and 12 others were injured in three separate road mishaps in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, a bus bearing registration number JK02BN-1579, which was on its way from Udhampur to Jammu this afternoon collided with a truck bearing registration number JK02X-8095 coming from wrong side while on its way from Jammu to Udhampur, at National Highway near Jhajjar Kotli.
In the mishap, 12 persons including the truck driver and bus driver were injured. All were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment, where the seriously injured truck driver identified as Muzammal Hussain, son of Hamid Ullah, a resident of Pul Doda succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem.
The other injured have been identified as bus driver namely Ajay Kumar (26) son of Kartar Chand of Udhampur, Bikram Singh (20) son of Gajan Singh of Latti, Shanker Chand (46) son of Gopi Chand of Chenani, Kewal son of Ramesh Chander of Patangarh, Raku Kumar (14) son of Bishan Dass of Pancheri, Rajinder Singh (40) of Udhampur, Virinder (35), Ramesh Kumar (37) son of Fingu Ram of Ramnagar, Raj Kumar (31) son of Tirth Ram of Basantgarh and Khilafat (40) son of Mohd Maqbool of Doda.
A case FIR No 14/2016 under Sections 279/337 RPC was registered at police station Jhajjar Kotli and investigations started.
Another mishap occurred at Narwal Pian area of Satwari, where a bike-borne youth was hit to death by a truck this evening. The body of the deceased identified as Kamaljeet Singh (22) son of Prem Singh of Simbal Camp was shifted to mortuary room of GMCH Jammu for post mortem. The concerned police have taken cognizance of the matter.
A female pedestrian was hit and injured today by a mini-bus bearing registration number JK02AQ-3184 here on Shalamar Road near SMGS Hospital. The injured identified as Rubina Akhter (20) daughter of Mohd Yousuf, a resident of Budhal, was shifted to GMCH for treatment. A case in this connection was registered at City police station.
