Two killed, 2 injured in accidents

JAMMU, Sept 27: Two persons were killed and as many were injured in three separate road accidents in city and its outskirts.
According to a police official, a Swift car bearing registration number JK02BD- 6333 which was being driven in a rash and negligent manner from Canal Head towards Akhnoor, hit a scooty (registration number JK02AH8665) coming from opposite side near pencil factory on Akhnoor road.
“The mishap occurred this evening in which scooty rider namely Rahul Kumar (25) son of Ajay Kumar, resident of Jawahar Nagar (Talab Tillo) died on the spot while pillion rider namely Rethik Jamwal (24) son of Vikramdev Singh, resident of Priyadarshani Lane (Talab Tillo) sustained injuries,” the official said.
He said the deceased and the injured persons were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for postmortem and medical treatment, respectively while a case in this connection was registered at Nowabad police station.
Meanwhile, an unknown pedestrian of age about 60 years was hit and seriously injured by an unknown vehicle late last night near RBI staff quarters in Bahu Plaza area. The injured man was rushed to GMCH Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries at about 1:30 AM today. In this connection, a case was registered under relevant sections at police station Bahu Fort while body of the deceased was shifted in mortuary room of the Hospital for identification/postmortem.
Another accident occurred at main stop, Gandhi Nagar, where a speeding car hit divider of the road near St. Mary’s Church. In the mishap, occupant of the car namely Ankush Dogra (28) son of late Manoj Kumar, resident of Lower Roop Nagar (Jammu) received severe injuries.
The injured man was shifted to GMCH Jammu for postmortem while a case in this connection was registered at police station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
