JAMMU, Sept 12: Two persons were killed while eight others were injured in separate road mishaps in city and its outskirts.
According to a police official, a woman pedestrian Shardha Devi (55) wife of Sohan Lal, resident of Simbal Morh, got serious injuries when she was hit by a rashly driven motorcycle at Simbal Morh, yesterday.
The woman was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where she succumbed to her injuries late last night. Today after completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites.
Similarly an unknown female pedestrian aged about 60 years was hit and seriously injured by a speeding bike at Pacca Danga, last evening. She was also shifted to GMCH Jammu, where she succumbed to her injuries today at about 5.30 AM. After conducting post mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites.
At RS Pura, four persons were injured today when a car in which they were travelling, was hit by a rashly driven unknown vehicle. The injured persons, who were identified as Puneet Kumar (29) son of Satpal, Ashok Kumar (52) son of Dharam Chand, Anita Devi (36) wife of Ashok Kumar and Kamlesh Devi (50) wife of Satpal, all residents of Rehari, were shifted to GMCH for treatment.
A motorcyclist identified as Sandeep Kumar (19) son of Yashpal, resident of Domana, was today injured when an unknown vehicle hit his two-wheeler at Machine Domana. He was also hospitalized. A teen-aged boy namely Aditya Mahajan (17) son of Anand Gupta, resident of Trikuta Nagar, got injured when a scooty which he was riding, rammed into divider of the road at Bawe Morh. He was also shifted to GMCH for treatment.
Two persons namely Ankita (27) daughter of Rakesh Sharma, resident of Muthi and Deepika (26) daughter of Madan Lal Verma, resident of New Plot, were injured in the collision of a bike and a scooty at Bus stand flyover. They were also hospitalized.
In all cases, the concerned police had taken cognizance.
