RAMBAN, Mar 22: Two persons, including a driver and his companion, were killed when a vegetable-laden mini-load carrier plunged into a deep gorge in the Battery Chashma area of Ramban district this afternoon.

According to police sources, the Tata Yodha vehicle (JK14H-2006) was heading to Srinagar from Jammu when the driver lost control.

The vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a 1000-1500 feet deep gorge, they said.
Sources said, accordingly, emergency teams, including police, CRPF, and local volunteers, rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies.
The deceased were later identified as Irshad Ahmed (35) from Pogal Paristan, Ukhral, and Sewa Singh (60) from Lower Phagmullah, Ukhral.
The bodies were taken to the District Hospital Ramban for post-mortem while as a case under the relevant Sections of the law has been registered at concerned Police Station, with further investigations set into motion.
