Two killed in road accidents

JAMMU, Jan 22: Two persons were killed in two separate road mishaps in Jammu district.
According to a police spokesperson, a man identified as Mohan Lal (60) son of Nanak Chand, a resident of Bardhal Kalan, was killed on the spot when the scooty bearing registration number PB05M-1311 he was riding on was hit by a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK11A-4897.
The accident happened today about 8.45 pm at Bangti area of Akhnoor when the Tata Mobile was on its way from Rajouri to Jammu. In the mishap, Mohan Lal was killed on the spot. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor for post mortem.
A case in this connection has been registered at police station Akhnoor and driver of the Tata Mobile, who has been identified as Chaman Lal son of Balbir Singh, a resident of Reasi, arrested.
The arrest was made by a police team of police station Akhnoor led by SHO Pushpinder Singh under the supervision SDPO Akhnoor, Naresh Singh, SP Rural, Rajeev Pandey and overall supervision of SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
Meanwhile, a beggar identified as Sungal son of Kodi, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, at present living in Channi Rama, who was hit and injured last night by a truck bearing registration number JK02AG-4785 at Narwal area of city outskirts, succumbed to his injuries here at Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu. After conducting post mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. The police has registered a case in this connection and arrested the accused truck driver, who has been identified as Ali Mohd, son of Abdul Rashid, a resident of Makarkote (Ramban).
