Two killed in road mishaps

JAMMU, Oct 17: Two persons were killed and an equal number injured in two separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, a woman was killed on the spot while her husband and 3-years-old son was injured, when the bike bearing registration number JK02AQ-3044 on which they were travelling, was hit this afternoon by an oil tanker bearing registration number JK02BE-9028 at Jammu-Akhnoor Road near Rajpura Chungi.
The trio was immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where after completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased, who has been identified as Santosh (30) wife of Vikram Singh, a resident of Shamachak, was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites while the husband of the deceased, Vikram Singh (32) and son, Suraj Dev Singh (3) are under treatment and their condition is reportedly stable.
The police has registered a case in this connection and arrested the driver of the tanker, who has been identified as Rajinder Singh, son of Kasturi Lal, a resident of Rajouri. Both the vehicles involved in the accident have also been seized.
Meanwhile, a man who was seriously injured yesterday when the bike he was riding on, got slipped at Bari Brahmana, succumbed to his injuries at 12.20 am today. After conducting post mortem the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. The concerned police has already taken cognizance of the matter.
