Two killed in road accidents

JAMMU, Mar 31: Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a pedestrian identified as Gurmeet Singh (50) son of Lal Singh,a resident of Badyal Brahmana (RS Pura), was crushed to death between two buses at BC Road in Amphalla while he was crossing the road, this morning.
On getting information about the mishap, the police reached the spot and shifted the body to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where after completing all medico legal formalities, it was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites.
A case in this regard was registered at concerned police station and the driver of one of the bus involved in the mishap, was arrested while the other driver managed to escape from the spot.
In Shamachak area of city outskirts, a bike-borne youth identified as Pawan Kumar (20) son of Hans Raj, a resident of Kalyanpur (Kanachak) was seriously injured when the bike on which he was travelling got slipped, late last night. In critical condition, he was rushed to GMCH Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
After conducting post mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. The concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
