Two killed, two injured in truck-car collision

JAMMU, Sept 10: Two persons were killed while two others were injured in two separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a speeding car bearing registration number JKO2AK-7502 rammed into a truck bearing registration number JK04-6375 from behind when the truck driver suddenly applied brakes, this afternoon at Kaluchak on National Highway.
He said that in the mishap, one of the occupants of the car identified as Sajjan Singh (65) son of Joginder Singh, resident of Sainik Colony, was killed on the spot while Rimpy (23) son of Rashpal, resident of Kathua and Bunty (34) of Vijaypur received injuries.
The spokesman said that body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites after conducting post mortem while the injured were being treated at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu.
He said that a case in this connection was registered at police station Gangyal and investigations started while both the vehicles involved in the mishap were seized.
“Meanwhile, a pedestrian was killed tonight in Narwal area when an unknown vehicle hit him. The deceased was identified as Harvinder Singh (55) son of Gokal Singh, resident of Gole Gujral”, the spokesman said, adding the body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of GMCH Jammu for post mortem while a case was registered in this connection at concerned police station.
